In 2011 The Class of 2020 was founded to improve the situation of student housing markets across Europe.
Through original research, informative events, and The Class Conferences, our NGO has managed to do much more than that. Student housing is now a recognized asset class, and we created a network committed to making student living efficient, international, and welcoming.
Through our partnerships with real estate developers, providers, and investors, higher education institutions, and city leadership officials, we stand at the forefront of student housing innovation and best practices.
We research and collect information to favour best practices in the field. We connect higher education institutions with city leaders and real estate developers, investors, and providers. We produce and provide valuable content, helping our partners to:
- Gain a better understanding of the local markets
- Increase professionalism in the field
- Successfully develop strategies for their businesses
- Network with an international community of stakeholders
Our international real estate community has been helping us make the aspiration of an efficient, transparent eco system for student living a tangible reality. Acting as facilitators between cities and universities, our real estate developers, investors and operators promote solutions to create user-centered living spaces based on innovative practices and technologies. Their work reflects the lifestyle young individuals seek today – a typology based on being constantly connected. Thanks to the exchange of ideas and research our partners provide, we can create environments that will ultimately shape our cities and the next generation of bright minds.
Universities are where talent is nurtured – it is the physical space that pushes bright minds towards fulfilling their potential in our society. Today the student experience goes far beyond classrooms, and it is instead defined by the community surrounding these young doers. A community that is inclusive, international, and most of all that supportive of the individual through this significant time of personal and interpersonal growth.
Educational institutions are becoming increasingly aware of the needs of their students, and have been making significant changes to accommodate these wishes. By creating new faculties, implementing collaborations with companies, cooperating with cities and businesses, they are set to become international hubs of ideas. But these ideas need a place to live, and it is our goal as The Class to facilitate student living and build a community housing officers can rely on. With our research programmes, regional sessions, workshops, and annual conference we provide universities with the tools necessary to embrace internationalisation, while valuing residence life and affordability.
Cities are the living space created by economic, social, and cultural factors that promote interaction and innovation. The lifestyle young individuals seek today reflects the direction universities and cities should take to engage with this new generation of doers. Youth acts as a fuel for urban development, where inclusiveness, sustainability, and constant connection are the key elements that drive city competitiveness and talent attraction. The Class of 2020 helps cities evolve into hubs for international talent which ultimately strengthen the local economy and give cities a competitive edge. With access to our exclusive research, regional events, and annual Conference, city leaderships gain invaluable insights into the best practices in city-university cooperation.
